Do I need a yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter to South Africa?

When travelling from or through a yellow fever endemic area and before entering South Africa, you are required to produce a vaccination certificate confirming that you were administered with the vaccine.

How long does it take to process a visa application?

The normal processing period if all the necessary information is provided is 5 working days.

Why can visas not be issued at the airport?

In terms of current legislation a person must already be in possession of a visa before he/she arrives at the South African port of entry. A visa informs the immigration officer that the bona fides of the foreigner has already been determined in the pre-screening process.

How do I extend my visa?

Once a person gets to the South African port of entry, e.g. Johannesburg International Airport, the visa is regarded as a visitor's permit. t depends on the contract. If the foreign company is the employer and the remuneration is made from abroad, foreigners who are exempt from South African visa control may enter on their exemption in line with the period that they are exempted, i.e. 30 or 90 days. Foreigners who are subject to visa control must apply for visitor's visa. If the South African company is employing the foreigners and they are paid in the Republic, work permits are required.

I am going to attend an international conference, what are the visa requirements and may I apply on behalf of applicants at your office in South Africa?

Our advise is limited to immigration procedure. In this regard, the Immigration Act 13 of 200 does not place any restrictions on clients who wish to purchase property in South Africa. The Immigration Act does however regulate foreigner's admission, residence in and departure from the Republic. In other words the fact that a client intends to purchase or has already purchased a house in South Africa does not affect or influence the above-named regulatory process. I want to renew my expired South African documents, what must I do?

Please visit our website and download B.I.73, B.I. 529 and forward your
mailing address together with your SA identity number to consular1@saembassy.org in order to mail out a fingerprint form B.I.9. Once you complete all your forms including B.I.9, send back the whole package to us in order to forward it to the Department of Home Affair in Pretoria. Please include your passport in the package. In case you want to keep your passport please state the reasons and send certified copies. All the abovementioned forms can be downloaded from www.saembassy.org under Consular Section.

Please note that B.I.9 (finger print form) is completed by applicants from 16 years old and more.
