On November 5th Mangaka will go the extra mile for South Africa by running the DC Half and Half Marathon in support of the South Africa-Washington International Program (SAWIP). As a SAWIP alum, Mangaka recognizes the value of the program. Please visit her My Extra Mile campaign page where she explains why developing emerging South African leaders matters.   Your investment in Mangaka’s campaign is an investment in the future of South Africa. SAWIP alumni are committed to making a positive difference in their communities. Some of the community engagement projects implemented by our alumni include:

  • Creating skills development workshops for high school students in at-risk communities
  • Providing legal aid services for those who lack access to justice
  • Offering peer education around HIV/Aids and other public health concerns
  • Informing communities about their civil rights and how to advocate for themselves

By making a donation and spreading the word, you are helping SAWIP provide opportunities that develop, inspire and support emerging young leaders who are creating a better South Africa for all its citizens. There is also an extra special perk: For every $25 donated, the donor is entered into a draw for two round-trip tickets between the USA and South Africa sponsored by South African Airways.  Thank you for going the extra mile with Mangaka!
